Satish Choudhary from Assam, notice the challenges faced by rural silk artisans, particularly women, in spinning Eri silk using traditional methods. To address this, he developed a portable, solar-powered Eri spinning machine named ‘Saraswati’, inspired by his mother. This innovative machine operates on both solar and electric power, ensuring uninterrupted silk production even in areas with limited electricity supply. Its ergonomic design, low noise, and adjustable speed settings make it user-friendly for both beginners and experienced spinners. By modernizing traditional silk spinning, this machine empowers rural communities, promotes eco-friendly practices, and enhances the efficiency and comfort of silk artisans.
