The major constraint for small tea plantation workers has been the lack of machinery to process tea leaves themselves. They have to be dependent on the large tea factories for this. Due to this, the overall profit was very less which makes their livelihood difficult. The innovator started developing machinery that can ease the process and reduce the dependencies on the large factories. He developed a Reciprocating Tea Dryer, which is also known as the push-pull dryer. The drying capacity of the dryer with 14 plates is about 20-30kg (wet weight) resulting in about 6 kg (dry weight) of dried tea leaves in 40 minutes.
